CAN I GET A WHOOT WHOOT FOR ISSUE 10?

Hey Everyone!

Well, it’s finally here and yes, finally is definitely the right word since it’s taken me quite a while to finally bring out this issue and I apologise for taking so long. The articles have been up for a while now, but trying to finish the PDF issue 10 has been dragging on for months now, I haven’t really been succeeding in juggling time for Blaze and my other daily activities that I have taken on this year. So, with time being an issue, we have decided to put the PDF magazine aside for a little while and make Blaze like a more typical e-zine/ blog-type-thing by adding articles onto the website as they are written. We’ll see where things go from there and we might decide to bring back the PDF in the future, but we just plan to take it one step at a time for now.

Anyway, back to the present... may I present the finally-finished issue 10. We have  2 sweet interviews for you to read; the first one is with the legendary Martin Smith of the legendary Delirious, sadly, Delirious will be coming to an end at the end of this year so, be sure to read up as Martin talks about that, the Compassionart project and how he plans to keep himself busy after Delirious. Our second interview is with Seth Hostetter of the new-comer punk rock band Children 18:3, made up of him and his 2 siblings. They are definitely a band whose music you wanna get your hands on, Superdave declared their debut album as the album of the year for 2008.

We also have some cool info for you; DJ Vitto aka Clint Grove (Spin the Flava frontman who also just so happens to write for Blaze)... is giving away a house album that he recently put together. Yip, you heard right...“giving away” aka free and you can download it at the Spin the Flava website. For the full low-down; be sure to check out our feature on the album where we got some info from DJ Vitto himself.

Also... Be sure to catch up on the good ol’ regular doses of our columns and reviews and also be sure to read Wendy Harbottle’s story on Big Daddy Weave frontman, David Weaver’s, “90 in ‘09” challenge..

Thank you all for your continued support and keep blazing for Christ ya’ll

Han...

Putting the 9 in 2009...

Welcome to the first issue of 2009. Here’s hoping all of you had an absolutely wonderful Christmas and holiday season.

I am really excited for the year ahead and I trust that it will hold many great things for all us and that we will be able to grow stronger in our walks with Him every day.

Sorry that this issue is a bit later than it should have been- this year I have taken on a couple of extra things that now take up pretty much all my time during the day; so time for Blaze work is now less than it used to be (I wasn’t sure if I would ever get this finished!); but a lot of work and thought has still gone into this issue. So, I hope that you will be blessed and inspired by this selection of articles. As things are going now; new issues of Blaze will probably come out every 6 weeks as opposed to monthly... but we’ll just see how it goes through the year.

This issue is quite the interview-packed one; and some pretty sweet ones at that; with 4 interviews with international artists- Barry Blaze (cool name!); Bryson Phillips of Capital Lights; rapper Stephen the Levite and New Zealander- Rapture Ruckus who will be touring SA in Feb/March with Parachute Band. So; hope you enjoy reading up about some highly-talented musicians and their stories... all of them are worth the read.

I’d also like to say “Welcome” to Wendy Harbottle, a new Blaze writer who will be helping out with interviews and feature stories- thanks Wendy and it’s a real privilege to have you as part of the team.

And then, of course, we have the start of a new year of all the regular columns- The Defining Line; AKA The Codfather; The Truth Booth, Shedding some Light and of course the coolest music reviews around. If anyone has any ideas on content for Blaze; ie. Any ideas for new columns or topics you would like to see discussed or anyone you would like to see an interview with... feel free to email us or post your thoughts on the forum..

Thanks everyone for all your support and please keep praying that Blaze will grow into whatever the Lord has planned for it.... ‘Til Next time ya’ll...

Big Blessings -- Han

Hey Everybody.

It’s  issue 8 time!!! If you are an avid supporter ...you might have noticed that this issue is a couple of weeks later than it was supposed to have been. Well, the reason would be that we decided to combine November and December into one “Fat, Funky, Fresh, Fiery, Festive” issue….so, that we can have a little holiday break and you still have plenty of reading material…yay! Hope you enjoy it and are encouraged to a new level and to be unashamed of the name of the Lord…

We have some sweeet interviews to read;  whoot whoot! How cool is that? Plus our other usual, awesome stuff  in larger doses. So, you better get straight to reading it ...are you still here? I thought I told you to get reading :-)

Also be sure to have a look at Superdave’s top 20 albums of 2008 under the Music Reviews section… you may not agree with them, but it’s just his humble opinion and you have the right to your own one. I will say that I do believe he was very open-minded and included a good variety of genres. (I would have to say that if I compiled a list it would be very biased towards my fav genre which would be rap/ hip-hop…hahaha)

Oh and also take a visit to the new online store Superdave’s running http://store.prepare.co.za if you want some music for Christmas presents…well maybe it’s a bit late for that since it’s the 18th today; oh well…. Check it out anyway!

I would just like to wish all students the best of luck with your exam results and what not; especially any

matrics waiting for those results; nerve-wracking stuff! Hope it all goes well!

And finally, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Enjoy the holidays and here’s wishing you lots of happy memories with your family and friends and every blessing for the year ahead.

And let’s keep the fire alive and let it keep growing stronger in us and impacting the lives of other people around us…

We’ll chat again in Jan 2009 and please keep praying the Lord’s plans for Blaze for 2009, whatever they may be, will be carried out completely….

Keep Well Y’all

Much Love and Blessings

Han

WHA?!?
You may well be confused at this point in time, especially if you visited Blaze magazine on the 22nd November but came back the next day to find everything changed. Yes, we have changed everything around once again. I'm not hyperactive or anything I promise, it's just that being a web making newbie has meant I have to learn things as I go along. That's why the first Blaze magazine website sucked, the next still sucked but had a rollover menu, the third version had some more features but still got called "old school', the fourth version was about as good as straight html can look and would have probably stayed as it was had I not figured out how to set up Joomla. The beauty of this set up is that we can add articles and blogs entrys or tweak the template or add more gadgets they'll instantly show up. This means less work for me in the long run which is good especially since I now have an online CD shop to take care of. The CD shop is called "The lighthouse store" and it's the reason I had to upgrade my web skills in the first place. Check it out now!
